Murals

Mural Projects

In the summer of 2009, a 1600 sq. ft. mural, was painted in the Blue Crane Exhibit at the International Crane Foundation (ICF) in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Imagery was needed to create the illusion of a larger, three-dimensional space.
A South African landscape was created to add depth to the exhibit by the inclusion of a far-sweeping distant vista.

Six more murals were completed at the ICF campus in 2019 and 2020. On April 8, 2019, the journey of 1,100 linear feet began with a single, cold and soggy step. Fortunately, the summer weather  offered better painting conditions and with that came progress. The murals were completed on September 23, 2020.

Jay began painting murals at the International Crane Foundation in 2009 when the Blue Crane Mural was completed. In 2018, concepts were developed and prepared for discussion, and illustrations were completed for six new murals totaling over 1,100 linear feet and averaging 8 feet in height. The outdoor murals are painted using zero-VOC, non-toxic premium acrylic on masonry walls which were stuccoed and primed.
A UV top coat from EarthSafe Finishes is applied at the completion.
