In the spring and summer of 2009, a 1600 sq. ft. mural, was painted in the Blue Crane Exhibit at the ICF campus in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Imagery was needed to create the illusion of a larger, three-dimensional space. A South African landscape was created to add depth to the exhibit and to add an illusion of a far-sweeping distant vista.
The outdoor mural was painted using zero-VOC, non-toxic premium acrylic. A UV top coat from EarthSafe Finishes was applied at the completion.
Six more murals will be painted at the ICF campus in Baraboo in 2019 and 2020. Check back here for progress updates, and for more information about the new exhibits at the International Crane Foundation visit www.savingcranes.org.
On April 8, 2019, the journey of 1,000 linear feet began with a single, cold and soggy step. Unfortunately, the sogginess and cold weather made painting difficult in April and May. June, July and August have offered better weather and with that comes progress.
